My name is Petrice Adams, and I serve as the program team lead for community work centers. I have worked with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for 18 years, holding positions in Central Records, Treatment and Programs, and Reentry. I also served as the program administrator for the Co-Occurring Disorder Reentry Program.
In my current role, I oversee programming at community work and restitution centers, focusing on education, workforce training, and career development. I am dedicated to empowering others and creating opportunities that enhance quality of life.
Working in Community Corrections allows me to help justice-impacted individuals rebuild their lives through employment, training, and second-chance opportunities. This work is a constant reminder that people are more than their past and they can create a stronger future with the right support.
I have witnessed firsthand the impact of collaboration between community partners, employers, workforce agencies, and correctional staff. Together, we are breaking down barriers and creating pathways to sustainable employment.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this work is seeing individuals gain confidence when they secure employment or complete training programs. These moments reinforce the importance of workforce development in successful reentry.
I am proud to be part of MDOC’s reentry efforts, helping individuals build careers, restore dignity, and believe in their potential. This work is challenging but incredibly fulfilling, and I remain committed to expanding opportunities and supporting successful reentry across the state.
