I am Captain Latrease Davis, and I began my career with the Mississippi Department of Corrections in 2002 at the Mississippi State Penitentiary. I am now assigned to the Delta Correctional Facility in Greenwood, Mississippi.
From the very beginning, I understood that working in corrections requires resilience, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose. Over the years, I have found this profession to be both challenging and deeply rewarding.
Each day presents new situations that test judgment, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. At the same time, it provides the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by maintaining safety and security and encouraging positive change in the lives of those in our care.
Working in corrections has taught me the value of teamwork, accountability, and professionalism. It is a career that demands commitment, but it also provides a strong sense of pride in knowing that the work we do truly matters.
What makes this career especially meaningful is the sense of family. During some of the most difficult times in my life, I was surrounded by support from my team and supervisors. Their care and compassion meant more than words can express.
I am truly thankful for the Mississippi Department of Corrections, my teammates, and my supervisors. I am proud to have served with MDOC and to be part of a team dedicated to safety, integrity, and public service.
