I am Corp. Daniel Zehner and I just joined MDOC two and a half months ago. I am assigned to the South Mississippi Correctional Institution (SMCI) in Leakesville. In my duties, I oversee yard calls, provide medications, and supervise inmates’ feeding.

I came to the agency from having served in an infantry duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. I chose to seek employment here because it is close to home and provides a decent salary. Working at SMCI allows me to be close to home but also have enough time off to enjoy life.

I really enjoy working with my co-workers and I would say that being part of MDOC can benefit others with great employment while giving the agency another set of eyes to watch things.
