Photo Gallery: Death Row and Execution Chamber

All executions are carried out in Unit 17 at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.

Also known as the Maximum Security Cell Block, the structure was originally established in 1954. Death Row inmates are currently housed in Unit 29. When an execution is scheduled, an inmate is transported to Unit 17 within a few days before the sentence is carried out.

Renovations were made to Unit 17 starting in 2024 and inmates will be moved to the location as soon as the facility is ready for housing.
