Deputy Administrator of Facilities Planning, Construction and Maintenance

Poole brings over 27 years of experience in construction management within the state of Mississippi, with a strong focus on strategic planning, budget management, and quality control. He is responsible for facilities planning, construction, and maintenance in the prison system. He joined the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) in September 2021.

Poole came to the department after serving as the Major Projects Manager at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). In this role, he oversaw new construction and renovation projects across the Hattiesburg Main Campus, Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, and Gulf Park Campus. He managed all phases of planning, design, and construction while ensuring compliance with Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) policies, Bureau of Building, Grounds & Real Property Management (BoB) standards, and State of Mississippi procurement and bid requirements.

Before his tenure with USM, Poole was a project manager for the Bureau of Building, Grounds, and Real Property Management. There, he was responsible for comprehensive project oversight, including planning, budgeting, accounting, and schedule control, from conceptual design through construction administration.

Poole is a graduate of Sumrall High School and Purvis Vo-Tech Center.
