The Marshall County Correctional Facility opened in June 1996 and is located on 42 acres with 17 acres fenced in. The facility was previously under the operation of Management Training Corporation (MTC) since Aug. 13, 2012. The facility transitioned to state control on Sept. 13, 2021. The authorized capacity is 1,000 beds within minimum and medium custody adult male inmates. Marshall County also offers four types of Religious Services along with several Educational Classes to help offenders be productive in the near future.
The facility received accreditation from the American Correctional Association in January 1998. The facility was re-accredited in June 2000, September 2003, January 2007, January 2010, and March 2014.
The facility is authorized to have full time employees. Marshall County also, offers part time positions as well as contract positions. The Health Care Program is contracted through VitalCore Health Strategies, which provides medical services 24 hours a day.
