The Marshall County Correctional Facility opened in June 1996 and is located on 42 acres with 17 acres fenced in. The facility was previously under the operation of Management Training Corporation (MTC) since Aug. 13, 2012. The facility transitioned to state control on Sept. 13, 2021. The authorized capacity is 1,000 beds within minimum and medium custody adult male inmates. Marshall County also offers religious services along with educational classes to help inmates be productive.

The facility received accreditation from the American Correctional Association in July 1997 and was re-accredited in June 2000, September 2003, January 2007, January 2010,  March 2014, and March 2020.

Personnel: The facility is authorized to have 140 full time employees. 

Healthcare: Through the state’s contracted healthcare vendor, VitalCore Health Strategies provides onsite medical services to the inmates. Onsite services include, but are not limited to, emergency care, infirmary care, dental, optometry, clinical, and pharmaceutical services. Specialty care services are also available through a network of off-site contracted hospitals and specialty care providers.
