SAVIN: Victim Assistance Service Provider Resources

UTILIZING SAVIN-VINE

For all direct victims or survivors of crime against a MDOC state offender we ask that they initially register with the Division of Victim Services. They will automatically be registered for the SAVIN-VINE services upon completion of the DVS online registration form. Please refer to the Division of Victim Services portion of the website. SAVIN-VINE provides an anonymous registration process. This allows anyone to register for automated notifications through “VINE” however does not allow for personal victim tracking.

It is very important that all registrants make continued efforts in keeping their contact information current. Updating the information will assure future notifications. If changes are needed, please contact the Office of MS SAVIN. This would also apply to individuals who register as direct victims/survivors of crime with the Division of Victim Services.

As a service provider you may choose to register your clients individually. To assure client registration you may contact our divisions. Please share the details of the services provided by both the Division of Victim Services and the Office of MS SAVIN to each client. You may also direct them to our divisions if additional information or assistance is required.

REQUEST COMMUNITY AWARENESS MATERIALS

As part of our continued efforts to provide public awareness, the Office of MS SAVIN will promote and supply the use of SAVIN materials (brochures, posters). We also have a small in-field information pad that can be easily tucked away in the shirt pocket of a law enforcement officer or placed in their patrol vehicle. The use of information pads are simple for the officers. When onsite assistance is required by law enforcement, the officer can tear off the sheet and then hand it to the victim. From time to time these materials may be revised or need replenishing. Please contact the Office of MS SAVIN for additional materials.

REQUEST TRAINING

In order to provide services throughout the state of Mississippi, it is relied upon us to do our part in providing accurate and timely offender information. In these efforts the Office of MS SAVIN can provide awareness training at the request of service providers or organizations. An overview of the program will be presented to the participants. This will assist in understanding the roll each of us have pertaining to the statewide automated notification services. To request training in any area, please contact the Office of MS SAVIN.
