JACKSON – A probationer wanted as a person of interest in a homicide that occurred Sunday in Holmes County is in custody.
Joseph Keys, MDOC #178985, surrendered to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office at 9:15 a.m. today on a county road near Lexington.
Keys, 25, had been sought for questioning in the shooting death of James Wise at the Yellow Tree Lounge on Highway 12 near Lexington. The shooting happened about 5 a.m.
Keys was convicted of burglary/larceny of an unoccupied dwelling on Sept. 28, 2012, and received three years to serve and four years of probation. He was released on probation Feb. 15, 2015.
