There are several factors that determine where an inmate is housed to serve their sentence. These factors include, but are not limited to:
- Crime conviction
- Custody level and inmate behavior
- Medical condition
- Court ordered treatment
- Work program
An inmate may be transferred at any given time based on whether the inmate has an increase or decrease in custody level, takes part in a specific program located at another facility, or if there are other special circumstances on a case by case basis.
