Inmate Death Investigation Under Way

JACKSON – A 56-year-old inmate serving life for a 2008 murder in Hinds County has died in prison.
Joseph Gentry was found unresponsive in his cell at East Mississippi Correctional Facility (EMCF) in Lauderdale County late Wednesday night. He was pronounced dead early Thursday morning.
Gentry, #168082, was sentenced on June 20, 2011, for murder and robbery. In addition to the life term, he received 10 years for the robbery conviction.
The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy and an investigation.
